The National Insurance Institute (INS) is a Costa Rican public institution, offering insurance options to companies and particulars, but also having the National Fire Department as one of its divisions.

In the previous 2 years, accidental fires in Costa Rica had increased by 25%, so INS was in need of a campaign which changed people’s behavior in order to prevent this kind of fires.

After each fire, the burned up walls remain as silent witnesses of fire tragedies.
We gave these walls a voice, so they could share their stories to prevent them from happening again.

We selected and collected 9 walls, survivors from our country’s most famous recent fires and created an itinerant artistic exhibition that started its route in the National Gallery. The exhibition was called: “If walls could talk”, since each wall told its story (and the cause of its fire) to the person who stood in front of it.
